BIOGRAPHY

Dionysios Passas a singer-songwriter from Greece. Since 2003 he has been working as a professional musician in the Netherlands. He sings, writes music and plays several musical instruments, such as the guitar, the baglamas (a Greek stringed instrument), drums and the keyboard. He performs at small theaters, restaurants and at parties. He knows deeply all kinds of Greek music (traditional and modern), besides, he likes various musical styles: pop, rock, hip hop, folk, fusion and jazz. His own music is a combination of different styles (the most part of it is pop- rock with elements of jazz and soul), but at the same time it has Greek origin.

Dionysios Passas was 17 years old when he started playing music (drums and took the vocal lessons). His first band was called TWO FACE. He realized that he really liked music and he decided to continue his career of a musician. To achieve that, he went to a music school where he learnt to play the guitar and the keyboard.
At the age of 19 he started playing drums in the band of Nikos Papazoglou, a popular Greek singer-songwriter. As a member of this band he took part in a great number of concerts throughout Greece and went on tours to England and Cyprus. Dionysios points out that the experience he got playing in the band  was very valuable for him and it really was a turning point in his life: he had become not only a professional musician, but he had also realized that  the music was the meaning of his life.

In 1987 he played drums in the band NOE. In 1990 he founded the band CASCANDER. For this band he not only wrote the music and lyrics, but he was also the lead singer and drummer. In 1992 Cascander participated in a talent show on Greek television. Eventually, the band took the sixth place. In 1995 Cascander toured in Russia for a period of four months.

In 2001 Dionysios came to the Netherlands, though, he settled down there in 2003. In the Netherlands he has made several CDs. For the CD “This beautiful dream” he has composed all the music. The music is pop-rock. The peculiarity of his music is that he combines the pop-rock style with folk music by playing the baglamas, a Greek stringed instrument. This creates a special sound, ancient and contemporary traditions are blended into a striking new style.

Dionysios performs several times a week. The years of getting experience and the constant development are reflected in his rich repertoire and the ability to adapt instantaneously to the atmosphere of the audience.  At various parties he shows that he is not only a musician, but also an entertainer who knows how to win the audience with all his enthusiasm and passion.

Since 2014 he has owned the studio “STUDIO Passas” in Hertogenbosch. He goes there daily to develop his ideas, to study and to teach. The latter he does with pleasure and passion. He knows how to transfer his passion for music to others.
